You'll combine your extensive P&C underwriting expertise with strategic broker relationship management, applying pricing strategies and risk assessment techniques to deliver profitable outcomes. This role offers genuine autonomy, clear underwriting authority, and the opportunity to make decisions that directly influence regional business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and negotiate new and existing Property & Casualty business within your authority, working on some of the largest and most complex cases in the Manchester region
- Build and maintain excellent broker relationships through regular engagement, strategic partnership, and collaborative problem-solving
- Apply pricing strategies and risk assessment techniques to drive profitable growth while maintaining underwriting discipline
- Collaborate with colleagues across the team to share insights, improve underwriting practices, and contribute to process improvements
- Represent the company brand at broker meetings, industry events, and field visits, strengthening market presence and relationships
- Monitor portfolio performance, analyse trends, and make strategic trading decisions to achieve profitability targets
Qualifications
- Extensive Property & Casualty underwriting experience in commercial or mid-market space with proven track record of managing complex portfolios profitably
- Good understanding of FCA regulation, underwriting governance, and regulatory frameworks; experience working in large or complex insurance organisations
